An extra-large plant would be placed in the middle of the square foot, without any measurement required.

To divide a square foot for large plants, you can use your finger to divide the square into four equal parts. Each part will then accommodate one large plant.

To divide a square foot for medium plants, you can use a fingering dividing the square into thirds. Another method is to use the "hook 'em horns" sign, which involves dividing the square both horizontally and vertically.

To divide a square foot for small plants, you can use two fingers, approximately the distance between your eyes, and divide the square into nine equal spaces.

One of the main advantages of Square Foot Gardening is the ability to plant different types of plants in each square foot, maximizing the use of space and increasing variety in the garden.
