There are 16 grid squares in a standard 4 by 4 foot raised bed.

By replanting each square foot after harvesting from it, grids encourage natural crop rotation.

Materials such as bamboo poles, rip cut lumber, cedar slats, metal rebar, PVC pipes, or drip irrigation lines can be used to create a grid.
