About once every two weeks. It takes about 20 minutes to complete the weeding process.

I hand-water the garden at about 6 p.m. every day, unless it has rained. Depending on the rainfall, sometimes I won't have to water for a few days.

I use a rain barrel system and a two-gallon sprinkle can to water the larger beds. For the containers on the deck, I use roughly two jugs worth per day.

As the beets grow, I trim the lower leaves to allow the new leaves to grow. I also chop up the radish greens to make salads.

For lettuce and kale, I use fish emulsion 5-1-1, one tablespoon per gallon, and fertilize every 7 to 10 days. For tomatoes, peppers, cucumbers, and beans, I use fish emulsion 5-1-1 and Alaska fish emulsion 0-10-10 starting June 1st through September.
