How to Make a Garden Arch Trellis | Vertical Square Foot Gardening | DIY Beginner Tutorial

A trellis is a plant support that allows you to grow vertically in a condensed space. It allows plants to grow upwards, maximizing the use of space and making harvesting easier.

I used old materials such as tubing and repurposed them to create the trellis. I used screws, steel fasteners, chicken wire, zip ties, and bamboo sticks to assemble the trellis.

The trellis wasn't as strong as I wanted it to be, so I decided to weave bamboo sticks through the wire to form a grid. This added extra support and stability to the structure, especially against wind and the weight of fruited plants.

When selecting plants for my square foot garden, I look for plants that provide an abundant yield and will grow the most food possible. I also consider the growing zone, resistance to plant diseases, and early harvest options to ensure a successful and productive garden.

In my garden bed, I planted squash, hot peppers, cucumbers, tomatoes, carrots, lettuce, tulsi (holy basil), green onions, flowers (marigolds), and beets. These plants were chosen for their productivity and suitability to the growing conditions.
