Tomatoes can be planted outside in a warm sunny part of the garden ideally in the beginning of June.

There are two ways to train your tomato plant to grow upward. One way is to use strings and wrap the root ball with the string, allowing the roots to grow into the string. The other option is to use canes and tie the tomato plant to the cane, allowing it to grab onto the pole as it grows.

In a polytunnel, you can use rings or bottles to water your tomato plant. For rings, place the tomato plant in the middle and the water will seep down into the soil through a small hole around the ring. For bottles, place a bottle with a hole in the end into the soil and water directly into the bottle, allowing the roots to go down and find the water.

The suckers on tomato plants are little branches that come out in the armpit. These won't produce fruit and can be removed with a knife or scissors.

Once your tomato plant has flowers, feed it once a week with tomato food. This will give the fruit the energy and nutrients it needs.
