Gardening in Portugal | #2 Preparing the Soil for Growing our Vegetables

We're working on a long-term project expected to take over the next one or two years, as we're not permanently living in Portugal yet, due to ties with the UK.

The blue van serves as both our transportation to Portugal and our sleeping and living accommodations while we are there.

We refer to the white van as the mini bus, a bigger and more comfortable setup with a proper double bed, and it serves as a more comfortable living space on our land in Portugal.

Our main priority is our land, as we are focusing on planting trees and making the soil fertile for growing our own food.

The renovation of the house is a later project, likely after we've established our land. We expect it may be ready about a year and a half to two years from now.

We are considering converting the small shed into a bathroom facility, which will be more convenient while living on the land and renovating the house.

We are adding compost mixed with well-rotted chicken manure to the soil to increase its fertility and nutrition. We're also focusing on growing above-ground plants like beans, squash, and leafy vegetables while we continue to improve the soil quality.
