From the archives: The Osage murders and "Killers of the Flower Moon"

The small Cemetery in Greyhorse, Oklahoma is the site of mysterious deaths that occurred in the early 1920s. Many people died at young ages, and there is a sense of evil surrounding these deaths.

There was an oil rush in Oklahoma in the early 1920s, which led to the oage nation, a remote territory in Oklahoma, becoming incredibly wealthy due to the discovery of large oil deposits.

The US government assigned white Guardians to the oage nation to supposedly protect the oage from mismanaging their wealth. However, this law led to abuse, kickbacks, and outright stealing of the oage's money by these Guardians.

Between 1921 and 1925, 27 oage people were officially murdered. This period became known as the Osage reign of terror, with various methods of killing, including shootings, poisonings, and even throwing someone off a speeding train.

David Graham, a New Yorker magazine writer, became captivated by the story and conducted an investigation into the Osage murders. The FBI was later brought in, and young J. Edgar Hoover made it the agency's first major case.
